How do I care for my Jewelry?
Silver
Tarnishing
925 silver is made up of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper—the perfect combo for durable jewelry, since pure silver is too soft.
But, because it’s a mix of materials, it can react with the environment and develop a thin tarnish layer. We’ve even seen this happen during shipping!
Tarnish usually pops up when silver comes into contact with things like sulfuric sweat (after eating eggs, curry, or garlic), lotions, perfumes, or cleaning products.
No need to stress—it’s just a tiny surface layer. Here’s how to clean it up:
How to Clean
Polishing Cloth:
Every couple of weeks, or whenever your piece starts looking a bit dull, grab a polishing cloth and give it a good rub.
Deep Clean:
If the tarnish is stubborn (maybe it’s been sitting a while), try this:
You’ll need:
- Boiling water
- A bowl
- Baking soda
- Aluminum foil
- A soft cloth
Steps:
- Line a bowl with aluminum foil.
- Add boiling water and a sprinkle of baking soda.
- Pop your jewelry in for 3–5 minutes.
- Rinse under cool water, dry with a soft cloth, and finish with your polishing cloth.
Boom—good as new!
Why is my finger green?
We only use 100% 925 silver, so this isn’t the same “green finger” situation you might’ve had with cheap jewelry as a kid. Very rarely, a greenish tint can show up due to a reaction with your skin or leftover polishing compounds.
No worries—just keep wearing it, and your skin will adjust. Washing your hands thoroughly can help, too!
Can I swim with my piece?
Absolutely! Silver’s cool with salty seawater, pool water, and pretty much any kind of water—except those sulfur-heavy hot springs (you’ll know by the eggy smell). Sulfur will turn your piece black, but no biggie—just follow the cleaning steps above to fix it.
Heads up: fingers can shrink in cold water, so rings might slip off more easily. And watch out for waves—they love snatching jewelry!
Stones
Banging and deforming the piece could result in the stone coming lose. Glue is also used to secure the stone prior to setting so avoid hot environments: hot baths, saunas, etc. and you'll be fine.
How do I know my size?
Good news—ORNMNTS rings and bangles are adjustable, so they’re designed to fit most people effortlessly! No complicated sizing charts here.
For bracelets, they’re semi-adjustable, and the size range is listed in the product description (e.g., fits wrists sized X–Y cm). As long as your wrist falls within that range, the bracelet will fit comfortably.
How to find your bracelet size:
- Grab a soft measuring tape, string, or strip of paper.
- Wrap it snugly around your wrist where you’d normally wear a bracelet.
- Mark the spot where it overlaps and measure the length with a ruler.
- Compare your measurement to the size range in the product description.
If you’re between sizes or unsure, we recommend going for a slightly larger fit for comfort. Adjustable designs make it easy to tweak for your perfect fit!
